Photovoltaic system
A modern photovoltaic system on the hotel roof reliably supplies the hotel with clean electricity. The energy generated is used directly on site.
DAS Hintersee relies on renewable energy sources and careful use of resources.
Sustainability at DAS Hintersee is not a buzzword, but everyday practice. From heat supply to the electricity for the underground garage — the hotel draws its energy from regional and renewable sources. Each system was chosen with the hotel’s ecological footprint in mind.
The aim: generate energy where it is needed and waste as little as possible. Regional raw materials, short distances, transparent origins.

A woodchip system provides the hotel’s heat. It runs on local wood from the region — short transport distances included.
EV charging stations are available in the hotel’s underground garage. The electricity comes from the hotel’s own photovoltaic system — driving with a clear conscience.
The photovoltaic system at DAS Hintersee works all year round. There is no shortage of sunshine in the Salzkammergut — and every kilowatt hour the hotel generates itself is one less from the grid.
Surplus electricity flows straight to the EV charging station in the underground garage. Guests arriving by electric car can charge their vehicle there with green power from the hotel itself.
Woodchips are a traditional energy source in Salzburg’s forestry. DAS Hintersee uses this resource consistently: the woodchip system supplies the entire hotel with heat and keeps the CO₂ cycle largely closed.
Regional wood, regional processing — the added value stays in the region. That suits the hotel’s ethos.
We don’t just want to offer holidays. We want to show that a hotel can also operate responsibly.
