Hiking in the Osterhorngruppe

Alpine pasture trails, summit views, and hut stops right from the hotel

DAS Hintersee sits in the heart of the Osterhorngruppe in the Salzkammergut. Routes start right from the hotel or the village center. Along the way, alpine huts serve homemade strudel, Kaspressknödel, and house-made Hollerkracherl.

Three tours are especially good for guests: the Feichtenstein loop with the Wald-Wasser-Zauberweg, the Bergalm loop via the Regenspitz, and the Wald-Wasser-Zauberweg as a short standalone walk along waterfalls to the Satzstein.

Alpine pastures & hut stops

On the tours around Hintersee there are several managed alpine huts. The Feichtensteinalm serves homemade apple and apricot strudel. At the Gruberalm, also called the Mayerlehenhütte, Lisi cooks Kaspressknödel and Bauernkrapfen, with Hollerkracherl. The Krapferalm also lies on the Feichtenstein loop.

The huts are operated seasonally. To be sure, just ask at the hotel — the team knows the current opening times.

Anyone who has stood on the Regenspitz knows why we live here.
